Here...

The beautiful white lines represent the towers/warp points.

What do you think?

How about a 1/32nd scale instead? :| :| :| :| :|

Maybe somewhere that's a bit closer to sea level? Just a thought. I don't really know of any alternative sites.

That was the flattest place I could see. :'S

The scale/distance is the main problem though. :/

Going 250 in each direction would be HUGE, so might do it 2m=1 block instead. :S

Until we decide for sure what we're doing, if anyone wanting to help clearing only goes to ~100..125 in each direction, that'd be good.

That way, it's not wasted effort if we decide to go half size, but still useful if we decide to go full size.

This is a stupid idea.

I renounce all claim and link to the idea.

It's finally come to this... a game where you are offered the oppourtunity and have the will/inclination to make a /car park/? And have fun doing it?

In a game where cars don't exist (at least until someone figures out how to build a V6 engine and suspension out of blocks) this seems like a little otiose.

C'mon Peter, the bio-dome thing is a nice idea, but don't sacrifice flair n' fun for accuracy.

Having said that, and never having played the game, I can still see how building a vast construction could be engaging, making sure every detail's right etc etc - it's a throw back to playing with construction toys and building replicas of your favourite things, so maybe there is something inherently entertaining about creating a flat grey area with white lines all spaced out neatly, in measured rows with enough space to park a mine cart (in an OCD way)?

:-Y

Pfff, where's your ambition, man? Huge is good! It's got to be big enough so that you can't see the opposite side of a dome even with the view distance on full.

And if you need the sea filling in, well, I have some experience with that.

(incidentally: I'm in London for now but should be returning home tomorrow. I have Minecraft on my laptop but it's shit playing it without a mouse)

I have an app which adds momentum to the trackpad. Makes it feel more like a trackball and makes first person games bearable. I recommend such things.

I think the Mac one has that already, I dunno. I still don't like it, cos it's not as comfortable, accurate, fast or unannoying.

All I really use in my laptop, you're clearly not dedicated enough (saying that, I've not really put much of a stint in lately).

Hey! It's a very pretty car park! :@

It's NOT just a boring slab of grey with white lines and arrows like a supermarket has - but a bunch of nice grey lines, curving about, separated by bushes and trees, with birds singing happily.

If it was purely a case of building I'd be saying let's go for it.

But we need to clear the area first, and even with a ~125 radius that's a huge task. With a ~250 radius it's insane. :/

So, how do you create a singing bird out of minecraft blocks?!

<ahem - curves - ahem>

bigger than you think, since you want to go 15 below sealevel

You harass notch until he adds proper birds to the game, and not just flightless chickens.

Or, until then, you make a giant inanimate containing either a jukebox or a few note blocks surrounded by wool.

And then you shout at the person who made me go and do that, except I forgot what type of bird it was going to be, so it's more of a songduck. :@

HAPPY NOW? :@

Yeah, I just noticed that. :S 15 down is fairly deep.

Of course, we could stick to sea level and forget about the annoying clouds?

Or, another option is cheat for the first bit and use a level editor to clear the area? :S

Soooo... what you're saying is all that's needed is a few note blocks around the bird's face and you've got yourself a singing duck?

In fact, Peter, go the whole hog and make it sing "White Christmas".

Then I'll be happy. :-P

That duck looks huge, if you're going to be building your song ducks on that scale, how big is the car park going be, not to mention the whole bio-dome project, is 450x450 blocks going to be big enough?

Squids seem to be able to fly.
