Sounds like a cracking idea.

In fact, that sounds like a good segment to have, The weekly interview with Matt interviews with random forumites. Find out what they do, etc.

I'd like to talk about the vicissitudes of fate.

Be more pro-active man; talk about him trying to get rid of the weight, rather than focussing on what he's become.

But seriously, anyone see the BBC news this morning? There were two fat women campaigning for the right for fat people not be abused and for it to be made a kind of hate crime to discriminate against those horizontally challenged people.

Funny thing was they kept bleating on about how genes can affect your size n' weight, then they showed a professor/scientist type bloke who said genes really don't play that big a part in determining your weight. So 'naturally fat' is a bit of a fallacy. They also mentioned that diets don't work... wonder if they ever tried my diet? I call it the eat less do more diet, and it worked for me, I used to be a heffer, but now I'm not thanks to eating less and doing more.

So... what I'd like to have talked about is issues.

Issues about being fat.

Billy Connoly summed it all up for me

1. if you want to lose weight you have to eat less and move more, that's all there is to it

2. all this 'genitic disposition to weight gain' or 'some gland not working properly' is bollocks
in all the starving african/ethopian/wherever films you've ever seen did you ever once see a huge fat guy at the back saying "I don't understand, I hardly eat a thing"?

I am overweight, and I plan to do something about it (already am doing slowly)
but it's not about glands or big-bones or genitic fat genes
it's just eating less and moving more

How many podcasts do you think you'll need?

Perhaps you could have another on ponyporn?

Yep, totally agree... though the bints on the news this morning were saying that they 'don't want' to go through the pain of dieting because it'd cause their quality of life to drop to a point where they had zero enjoyment. They didn't seem to realise that quality of life isn't always about food and they'd they'd no doubt be better off with a healthier body.

I didn't see the article on the BBC news, but I did read this. Oh dear.

I did have to laugh at the comments from the UK activists though. What a sad pair. Especially this:
This is a very common event - someone being beaten up should be a crime.

Umm, I thought 'beating people up' /was/ a crime. :?

If they lost weight they could probably enjoy some proper sex instead of getting some poor bastard passed out drunk, giving him a shove to get him going and letting him ride the ripples.

That's herself... she's a bit chav-tastic having her hair in a Chelsea facelift sort of style.

They also showed an equally heinous video of lots of fat people rolling around the floor (i think in some bizarre fat fighting exercise, though they were proclaming they were proud to be that way) and 'trying' to dance, it was beyond pathos.

I liked this quote:

quote:
"They say 'Move out of the way fatty! Well person coming down the aisle!'"

No discrimination for ill people then...

Wasn't it Billy Conolly who did the "This hole here..." (points at mouth) "...is bigger than this hole here!" (points at arse) gag?

I don't remember hearing that, but it certainly sounds like something he might say
