I have some odd blindness with that word, I always spell it wrong and the more I try to fix it, the worse it gets - someone else corrected me earlier in the week

I've poked and prodded. Try it again, see if things improve. If they don't, I don't know.

I before thee, except after sea.

There, cleared up.

I've always had trouble with necessary and definitely. <spell checks>

Think I must have been away from s'coil the day they taught us them.

I have issues with necessary and ridiculous.

Definitely I don't have a problem with. I actually seem to spell to myself it as I type it. I always remember the "init" bit. Also, if anyone has issues with separate, it has a rat in it.

And to carry on this little silly things to remember spellings and what not, I still use this:

Monkeys = Methyl
Eat = Ethyl
Peanut = Propyl
Butter = Butyl

I can never spell misogyny (my brain always wants to make the second letter a y, which is ridiculous I know) and gar-run-tee. I often can't even get that one close enough for spellcheck to know what the fuck I'm on about.

Except that doesn't always work. I can't remember the exceptions offhand though.

I have a problem with 'diarrhoea'. But luckily my office is close to the toilet.

The yanks have a different way of spelling it, that actually makes sense...

'diarrhea'

All the letters sound out and the redundant 'o's been taken out.

I'm proud of our language and wouldn't want to yank-ify it, but as I have problems spelling the botty problem disease, then I'll let them have this one. It's a definite no to 'color' though. 'Cos that looks wrong more than anything else.

On a side note, my wife is a terrible speller, she had trouble with councillor and rythym last night... the unfortunately ironic thing is that she's a primary school teacher and has to propagate spelling to a reception class.

Thankfully they're as bad as she is, so no-one really notices!

I've just come across one that always gets me: 'gauge', I keep trying to spell it 'guage'.
