This might be going too far, Nigel, but how about we restrict all threads to only having a last post. That's usually the one with the information in it.

While not without merit, Andrew, your suggestion does assume that the thread terminates once the solution has been presented, and indeed that the solution is wholly presented on one post. As Mr Thomas quite rightly observes, threads have a habit of taking tangential routes of discourse. Under such circumstances, I fear that we may end up preserving not solutions by electronic fluff.

 

Perhaps we should undertake a probablistic analysis of threads to determine the zenith of information presentation? We should include in this analysis the concept of thread 'die away' (or tending to off topic).

I am in the demographic known as 'the worried well' and scoff huge quantities of snake oil including Gingko, St. John's Wort, Vitamin C, dispersible aspirin & CLA. Yum.

I'm more in the take 'em for fun group. I do a hydrocodone and beer chaser couple times a day. That keeps me well and usually in a good mood :)
