tracert says "No resources."

Couldn't work out how to explain this bit, but look at where the ip should be for the tracert... has random hish ascii chars - has same thing wherever I trace, also for pinging too.

From a Command Prompt type:

code:
netsh winsock reset


That will reset the Winsock to it's default state and also remove all 3rd party LSPs (Layered Service Provider). After you've run the command restart Windows and set up your network again.

If you're still on SP1 or older you can download WinSock XP Fix which will do the same thing.

Didn't even need to set anything up again - after restarting I can connect to the other machine, and get online.

(And more importantly, I can get at my music and end the dull silence I've endured so far this evening).
