What have we done, then? :[
The admin log isn't working so i can't even see what might have caused this outburst.

In my half-drunk stupor last night I thought it'd be amusing to reply to Jon's post about reading up on lock-picking with an FBI style login thing, but new accounts need to be verified by admins :(

Oh, and what's this forum rules stuff all about? Never seed them before. I think. Or were they always there? I forget.

It got me too.

My Mike Corley character stopped by to take part in the DNA database thread but by the time he got approved it was far too late.

By days :-(

Although he got in once by having a generic username. It's so hard to tell!

I actually thought "The Feds" might be him, hard to know till they post something

Do we know his ISP? Can we limit the requirement by IP ranges?
From: JonCooper28 Feb 2008 15:56

he did tell us any amount of times but I can't remember
he does get IP banned on each reappearance, but banning ranges might affect others? (it seems they are dynamic)

I don't mean banning the IP ranges, just restricting the signup modification - they'll very likely at least have the same first one or two parts being the same, with only the last two parts being dynamic.

I suspect you're talking to the wrong person here, I am able to fake looking like I know stuff, for someone who really knows stuff you'll need Matt ;)

Are you still talking about IP addresses here? Parts being octets?

Beehive can already to partial matches on ban data, but the he certainly appears to have a static IP. The one time he got through it's quite possible he was using an anonymous proxy on another ISP, as he's tried since then with his usual known IP / ISP.

Yes, but couldn't remember the proper name for an octet. :$

Since he's on a static address most times, could the account verification be limited to his address only?

(Assuming he is the reason it's been enabled)

(too much like hard work)

If you just ban the first 1 or 2 octets of the IP address, you could end up blocking thousands of users who happen to use the same ISP.

Um, that wasn't what he was suggesting.
