So, me will settle for a X1950 XTX. £199 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-RADEON-X1950-XTX-Interface/dp/B000I7A8PM/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/203-9645601-9480768?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1193265698&sr=8-3
Yeah right, no ways ho sazes I think to myself.
And the Pro's which are in supply are just a shit card. They sit way lower than the XTX's or XTs, but right above the 1950 GT.
The 8800 GT 320mb is about £180, but just below a HD 2900 Pro on the power front.
I only wanted to spend £150+ on a PCI-E GFX card.
Im getting into C&C 3 now,and the demo of COD 4 looks ok.
I need GFX advice. Cause im lost.
No actually.
I need to find a X1950 XTX or XT (brand new) [should I go Ebay? I dont want too.] thats £150 or less. (/not/ likey).
Right Dave!!, iv got:
Micro ATX mobo.
One, say 70W, 2.8G AMD x2 Dual Core.
2 x 1G DDR 2 400mhz 2.2V Mem.
80G IDE HD.
DVD-RW.
PCI Audigy 2.
1 USB Mouse.
1 PS/2 Keyboard.
Onboard Ethernet.
That aint much.
Q-Tec 550w PSU.
If I add a 300W PCI-E GFX card, whats gonna happen?
Stay the fuck away from them 2900 mofo.
Get an 8800 whatever.
Dunno about 8800. Comsumes little less power than a the 2900's.
Dang im so gay about this. I dont want a 2600, cause there slower than the 1950's.
Find me a X1950 XTX please, thats under £150.
"There isn't tons of difference between the 8600 GT and the 8600 GTS, although the GTS is a little bit faster. The biggest problem is that the 8600 GTS is about half the speed of the 8800 GTS. That's a big drop when you're comparing about 60fps in a game to just 35fps."
The 2900s aren't terrible. They're roughly on a par with the 8800 GTS cards. The negativity comes because ATI don't have anything better at the moment, hence they don't have a competitor for the GTX or the Ultra.
Trig: The X1950 Pro is still a decent card if you don't want to break the bank. Alternatively, see if you can pick up a 320MB version of the 8800 GTS within your budget.
Aye. X1950 Pro it is then.
