Where'd it go?

So the forum vanished for a few hours earlier this evening for me, anyone else have this problem?

I tried looking for teh backup forum, but it seems that Mike Quiglypants has pulled the plug on Pandasurf.

The DNS service on our server fell over and didn't restart automatically so it wasn't answering to DNS requests for www.tehforum.co.uk.

It's back now though.

As for Teh Backup, no idea.

Ah well. I wonder how Quigly is. He normally pops in every year or so for a quick hello, haven't seen him for a while though.

It's not just Teh Backup that's gone, it's the whole Pandasurf thing.

He popped into Delphi the other week and seems pretty chipper.

Any chance you could give him a poke about teh backup?

If it's unintentional it would be nice to have it restored, but otherwise I can create a new backup place...

I think it might be a good idea for you to go ahead with a new backup place as I think it unwise for us to rely on someone who rarely visits to maintain such a place.

No offence to Mike intended.

If you look up ther ^^ you'll see that the whole Pandasurf thing has been dismantled, so I doubt it's unintentional.

How much space & traffic would teh backup take, very roughly?

Even went it's used it's unusuall if more than 10 people post one or two posts on there, so I'd guess fuck all.

That makes sense, I'll go do it.

Ben: As Woggy said, next to nothing.

Excellent news, well done :-)

Any chance of an online/offline button thingy indicating the condition of Teh? [Just a thought]

B-)

Heh, you read my mind - I was just going to go find out the relevant PHP commands and write a quick script to do that. :)

Forum is otherwise all setup, so once I've got the status thing working I'll create a new thread to tell people where it is.
