Did you used to have one of those Wigwam Ice-creams?

Aye, I think we all had the same model. The rudder control fucked up and wouldn't stay calibrated. The rudder would twitch left and rightall the time making flying in a straightline impossible.

Mine was always fine. I think I must've got an earlier batch that had less cost-cutting or something. Made me look dead good at recommending, that did :(

To be fair I probably played it to death. It was a great stick for the price.

Can you fly Spitfires and Swordfishes and that-other-plane-I-want-to-fly-but-can't-remember-what-it-was?

I don't think the Spitfire was ever in IL-2, but I could be wrong as I never had all the expansions. I believe the did add the Hurricane at some point though.

It was a Russian WWII flight sim though, and that seemed to make it better in a way as everyone would pick a different random flying machine to go to battle in, as no one had a clue what was good and what wasn't.

The two-mile-wide plane with 50 gun-positions that you could all sit in and fly around together was clearly the best (giggle)

Or the ROCKET PLANE!!!!!

I've found references to there being several versions available from the extensions, but didn't see anything saying if they are/aren't playable. :(

Anything listed is flyable. It's more interesting flying obscure Russian things usually though. I used to love doing torpedo runs in an IL-2.

Wouldn't it make sense to have it at the weekend, so that non-UK people have more of an opportunity to play?

Yes, because if it's on the weekend I can probably play.

I'll read the rest of the thread now.

I still play CS:S quite a bit. If anyone else has played the GunGame mod, they can probably attest that with the right settings it's insanely fun. I have, for instance, dragged Woggy, into a game or two of it and he seemed to enjoy it. I would highly recommend it.

The idea is you start with a glock and each kill you get you move on to a slightly more powerful weapon until you're at the grenade and then the knife. You have to get a kill with the weapon for the level you're on (i.e. level 1 you need a glock kill to advance to USP) My personal favourite settings are deathmatch (makes it more hectic and less irritating when you die since there's no waiting about), 5 kills per level to advance and turbo mode on (when you get a kill with the correct weapon, the next one appears in your hands with full ammo, leading to rampages if you're on a roll).

Aye, CS:S Gungame is pretty good fun, it's different enough that those of you jaded with Cs should find it fun for an hour or two. Not being able to buy weapons and getting better weapons is an interesting game mechanic. It's definately worth a go.

I agree that we need a bit of CS:S in the mix .
(Thinking DOD:S too)

However the idea is to play some random stuff and maybe some old stuff too, so it doesn't turn into a FPS fest.

Other suggestions?

Aye I love gungame! Would be fun played on proper maps, sometimes you can only find it on daft customs :(

aye some of the maps are wierd, the mario one is odd.

Indeed. Some of the maps are ace while others suck - all the more reason to have our own server with our own rules. 5 kills to advance, deathmatch and turbo being the most important IMO (5 means that you actually have to learn the weapons as opposed to just getting a lucky scout shot and moving on).

Ohh, that's what it's called :D I kept playing that on public servers (I only ever play on public servers really) and I *really* enjoyed it. I managed to win a few times as well :')

Yes, it's bloody brilliant, but would be more fun with people you actually know. I have always played on public servers too, but have occasionally played on them with friends (i.e. the other day Woggy, myself, Roburky and my cousin all piled on a server).
