You could all camp out by JCB lake. It's very pretty.

There's a very low tech, incredibly out-of-the-way campsite at Gordale Scar near Malham in the Dales:

This is what we will eat on it:

Stuffed Cajun Meat Boat recipe
1 1/4 pounds ground beef
12 tablespoons chopped green peppers, divided
3/4 cup chopped onions, divided
3/4 cup chopped celery, divided
1/2 cup chopped green onions, divided
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce with herbs, divided
1/4 cup half-and-half
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 tablespoon hot sauce
3 tablespoons meat and poultry seasoning
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons lemon juice
Canned low salt beef broth to thin
Salt and pepper to taste

Combine ground meat, 4 tablespoons green peppers, 4 tablespoons onion, 4 tablespoons celery, 2 tablespoons green onions, 2 tablespoons tomato sauce, all the half-and-half, egg, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, hot sauce and 1 tablespoon meat and poultry seasoning. Mold the meat mixture into a boat hull with all sides and bottom at least 3/4-inch thick and set aside.

In a large saucepan, sauté in 2 tablespoons butter all the remaining vegetables until the celery is clear. Add the rest of the tomato sauce, meat and poultry seasoning, and lemon juice, and simmer 10 more minutes. Salt and pepper to taste. Place the meat boat into a baking dish, fill with the sautéed vegetables and spoon sauce over the top. Cover and bake in a preheated 350 degree F oven until done.

To serve, slice meat roll into 1 to 1 1/2-inch thick slices, cover with some of the remaining sautéed tomato sauce and vegetables.

I used to go camping at Gordale Scar a few times as a kid. Fucking loved the place.

Bah, that's /ages/ away. :(

The Scar is as impressive as Malham cove in its own way. And because the campsite is frill-less, it's not overcrowded most of the time.

Lots of daddy long legs's's's's'ssss' though, if i remember rightly.

Ok so people are coming back quite positive then.

More suggestions as to where to go?

 

Trying to think of places which are central to as many of us as poss.

 

Obviously if we wanted some entertainment rafting, riding, canoeing etc then we'll need to go somewhere appropriate.

 

Or we could go somewhere where photography is top of the menu.
Then we could tempt out teh resident photographer..

But yeh, I'd probly be up for a meat anywhere within reasonable (2-3 hour's drive) of Liverpool.

So long as we're talking July or later then I'd certainly be up for it, and willing to travel more or less anywhere (within mainland UK).

Could be up for that, depending when it is and when I find out whether I've got a permanent contract at work or not.

Just looking at the pictures I recognised Malham Cove. Too many fucking steps up to the limestone pavements, but worth it.

I'd possibly be interested depending on when it is and how much it'll cost. I'm already going to France next month and maybe Italy in July with a plan to go to Amsterdam in late August.
