Teh Forum Down Time

Teh Forum won't be available from this Friday (13th April - oh noes) due to a reallocate of IP addresses as required by Ripe.org. This probably means that you won't be to access Teh Forum all weekend because by the time we've got the name server IP addresses changed and the domain name pointing back at them it will take at least 24 hours for most ISPs to pick up the changes.

The email in detail from EuroVPS:

quote:
At this time, EuroVPS SA advises you that on 13-04-07 (DD-MM-YY) at 0400 CET, your IP addresses shall be changed as per the schedule below.

This is a required change, and is being done to consolidate all Server IP's within our own EUROVPS RIPE LIR address space. Please note that Reverse DNS PTR entries will be carried over, and shall be active immediately.

Old IP's
---------------

83.149.123.57
83.149.123.55

New IP's
---------------

77.235.37.217
77.235.38.188

The transition shall take place at precisely at 13-04-07 (DD-MM-YY) at 0400 CET. Should you require assistance with reconfiguration of your control panel software to use the new IP addresses, you are hereby requested to request the same at https://hspc.eurovps.com/cp by clicking Support, and filing a ticket under the 'RIPE IP Renumbering' category. Engineers are standing by during all times to assist with these matters as a high priority.

Following KB article will assist you in the IP changes for
Plesk/Cpanel/Directadmin servers:
http://support.eurovps.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=96

Please note, that we are providing you with IP numbers from different C-Classes, which will better enable you to provide DNS hosting for your clients as many domain registrars now require domain name servers to be on different /24 networks.

We realize that this is an inconvenience that we sincerely regret, however it is a required action from our side. EuroVPS is now a RIPE Local Internet Registry (http://www.ripe.net), which permits us to allocate IP's directly to you, rather than through our uplink providers.

That is all.

I knew something like this would happen. We should never have left Delphi.

Oh Noes!

Will it work as long as we take note of the IP addresses and type those into our browser instead of the URL?

I don't know. It only works at the moment because I set up the hosting so that the default site is tehforum.co.uk. I have no idea how this change will affect that side of things so you can try it and see if it works.

www.tehforum.org is already pointed to the new IP address and seems to be working just fine.

Hell of a thing! I just tried again and got right in after clicking the Bee logo in the middle of the blue background screen.

Well it's working for me today, as it is others it seems. Pretty damn swift change over, I pinged www.tehforum.co.uk and it does indeed point to the new IPs.

Name servers were switched at 10:30 - so only two hours for your DNS to update; not bad!

(Mine is still stuck :( )

That was with UKOnline (Easynet) but now I'm back in Sheffield with BeThere and it hasn't updated here. Obviously using the direct IP.
