These CD projects (Summer, Winter) have set off a little explosion of inspiration in my brain (or it may have been an aneurysm). Anyways, how about a double-CD set titled "Hello, I Love You / Goodbye, We loved You". The first CD would contain songs that you chose/will choose for the "this is our song" bit at your wedding. Lifelong spinsters/bachelors can suggest romantic songs that they would have if they weren't so socially dysfunctional as to void the chance of attracting a partner (ref Trig). Disc 2 is the song you want played at your funeral. Simple.
So let the suggestions begin!

Just another thought for D2, my all time fave track for when I am in a meloncholic mood:

Good task. Complicated by my having three funereal songs already sorted out but no Three Times a Lady to call upon (despite having been Two Times married).

I guess for the romantic number I might have to nominate the track I rather fortuitously lost my virginity to:Make it With You, by Bread. There: now you've imagined me pumping my way to adolescent ecstacy to that particular hippy anthem I'll wager you feel quite soiled, don't you?

My funeral compilation (presumably titled 13/04/2041) is Learning Time By Eric Serra (to which nos. 2 & 3 sons were born, so it stands for all three), In My Life by the Beatles for everyone who I have loved along the way (which, as you might imagine, is a lot of people); and I want to to be sent down to the fiery furnace to the accompaniment of Bernard Cribbins singing The Hole in the Road Song just to make you bastards laugh.

Pick your fave (or least loathed) from the above... Between tracks 2 & 3, I want everybody who wants to contribute to paint a flower on my coffin.

I don't know the other songs you mention, but In My Life is a great choice.

Well technically, i was seconding Manthorp's suggestion. So you've just thirded it.

But it should definitely go on.

Well I was really just seconding your seconding on Manthorp's recommendation, but I still agree, it should be on there.
