I'd find having someone's number handy too.

Spot on, Dave.

Make a note of it, I will be with Steve Manthorp from the off so it'll be easy to arrange meeting places via SMS or phone calls.

Cheers,

Eggselent!

My train should get in at about 12:50. My last train though is at 9:45, so I'll be leaving by then.

Well that was bloody grand :D

A great night, thoroughly enjoyable, etc. I've picked 3 of my better pics which you can see below:

Mouse and Ricard00

Boff, Greyhair and Manthorp

Manthorp and Jodles

All in all, a great night. Thanks to all who turned up :)

Northern Meat Report

Ricard00 arrived Chez Manthorp at about midday and we got a train into Leeds. We had barely sunk our first Guinnesses when Dave!! arrived. Turned out that Dave!!'s dad had taught Ricard00 at uni.

Then Boff turned up and we drank more. Imma phoned, claiming that she would turn up (she didn't in the end, getting diverted from her mission by shopping or summat).

We decamped to the Scarborough next, where we drank several pints of a real ale called gingernut (5% and VERY gingery). I then led the party across town to a buffet restaurant that was shut, and back across town (pausing while Ricard00 took a very public leak in a doorway) to a Chinese buffet that was, thank goodness, open; where we ate our collective body weight for about £25 all in.

At this stage my memory becomes a little hazy - Meaters feel free to correct me. Dyl arrived unannounced, in classic Dyl fashion. You will observe from his pictures that he has moved on in his choice of contemporary British comedians to doppelgang from Bill Bailey to Simon Pegg. I fully expect him to turn up to the next Meat in Eddie Izzard drag. His arrival was closely followed by that of Mouse and Jodles his girlie and finally by Greyhair. We reconvened at the Scarborough, which still had not run out of Gingernut, and continued to drink until about 10, when Dave!! had to get his onward train.

Mouse, Jodie, Greyhair, Boff, Ricard00 and I were all heading the same way so we set off to catch the same train. Mouse and Jodles taking the lead while Greyhair persuaded the ticket inspector to let Boff through with a platform ticket. Mouse and Jodie caught the right train. I confidently led the rest of the party onto the wrong platform, Greyhair got on one wrong train and Boff another whilst Ricard00 saw Mouse and Jodie on the right one and pointed them out. Unfortunately he was behind everybody, so no-one saw him.

We got a later train and arrived home at elevenish to pizzas and Absolut, generously supplied by Mr. Giles. May was happy to let Boff take over Wingnut's leaf throwing duties and we watched Jackass 2 until the wee hours. Boff and Ricard00 have now departed and I am left with needles in my brain.

A good and a festive time was had by all. Thanks to all who attended; let's do it again in Spring...

In fact, here's one more:

Ricard00 and Dyl.

Right, that was everyone (apart from me obviously) :)

And I think that about sums it up.

For what it's worth, I also ended up on the wrong platform thanks to Traveline's incorrect platform information :(

Thankfully I wasn't so drunk that I could read the screens telling me where my train was actually going to be turning up at.

Edit: Some good pics there as well :)

Looks like Mouse is waiting for the right moment to make his advances on Ricard00.

If the photo had only been taken 3 seconds later.

Good to see everyone and meet new faces. Here are my findings:

1. Boff was cool. I want to read his thesis on piano tuning, even though I will not understand any of it. Also he was of great help when trying to figure out whether there is any possiblity of a band jamming online accross the Atlantic (it is not).

2. Dyls dreams about winning £70 on a fruit machine caused a fucking waste of money

3. Dave!!! was cool, quieter in real life but still as assertive. I liked him.

4. Rich is still cuddly.

5. Jodi and my training of getting the right train in Leeds train station with seconds to spare is supreme. Although the Keighley man on teh train going round kissing everyone could have proved a bit much for Teh rest anyway I think.

Trig really should come along to one. It might do him good to actually meet real people.
