"Fairytale of New York." by The Pogues

I particularly like the line: "You scumbag, you maggot, You cheap lousy faggot, Happy Christmas, your arse, I thank God it's our last".

I would like to nominate "The Most Offensive Song Ever" from Mr Hankey's Christmas Classics.

Fairytale of New York by The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl

quote: Manthorp, #14,16
I think we should rise to the challenge of NOT including Fairytale of New York.

...it's rapidly becoming part of the canon of just-about-tolerable-christmas-songs-that-have-been-reduced-to-cliche-cos-they've-been-played-to-death.

(Except I would remove the rapidly becoming myself.)

Christmas Rapping by The Waitresses. Just because.

ah well, since it's about the only song that means xmas to me I withdraw from nominations.

My thought was only a thought. As you and Rendle both nominated it, I withdraw my thought comme ça:

quote:
- (I think we should rise to the challenge of NOT including Fairytale of New York)

There. Now you SHALL go to the ball, Cinders.

THREAD FLOUNCE!

It's OK, I may have a compromise for that issue. I think we can manage not to offend anyone.

great to see new input but keep it coming, I like the ones that are not Xmas songs but just sound 'wintery' like the Autechre track, Sigur Ros and Mansun.

Did you get my original Go Team one, that fits that bill. I'm rethinking my Sufjan one in favour of the more cheery "Come On! Let's Boogie To The Elf Dance!" by same though.

Whilst it technically hasn't, it sure looks like winter is here now.

Sorry about it being blurry, I was in a bit of a hurry to take it as I was on my way to work and it was about -10 with windchill.

does the road sign indicate that 'all beer is to be drunk in traditional English Pint glasses beyond this point.' ?

Nope it actually means "this blue thing sticking out of the ground with two little knobs sticking out is actually a blue thing sticking out of the ground with two little knobs sticking out".

haha, I just knew that'd be taken badly, I really meant "I'm not that fussed so it's not a huge problem"

Leaves' Eyes - Misseri

And if we're supposed to give two tracks:

Stratovarius - The Land of Ice And Snow

I can provide either or both if necessary.

You asked for recommendations so you can't refuse to put it on just because it's the devil's music. :]
