I wonder whether it's designed to be ironic - is it a warning sign so that people know there's a blue thing with knobs sticking out of it on the path and don't walk in to it?

I wouldn't be amused if I walked into it because I was too busy looking at the sign above it and wondering what it meant to notice the actual blue thing in the way. At least not until later.

I think all road signs here are a joke - you probably would too if I could find a shot of all the conflicting parking regulations.

Couldn't find the example pic I took in the summer, but I did find this one via Google. Now imagine that on every third lamp post (really I'm being generous there - every other one would probably be about right), except each one has a different combination pointing in random directions and what you get is a conflicting mass of rules that are effectively impossible to follow. Except if we're going to get scooters, we'll have to learn all that shit.

My father-in-law managed to pick up a ticket when he parked up downtown after dropping us off for our wedding - we were only in the Palais du Justice for about 15 minutes and he's an experienced Canadian driver!

In way of some explanation - the first sign there is no stopping from 4-6pm Mon-Fri, the second one is saying that parking is reserved for sector 35 resident permit holders only between 9am and 9pm mon-fri and the third sign is no parking between 9-10am Mon and Thu between 1st March and 1st Dec (I think!). And I'm really not kidding about that being a straight-forward one and the number of these per block.
