What do you use Exif viewer for?

Occasionally I do want to do that, but it doesn't seem much hassle to grab an offline copy for when I do.

Someone should write a plugin thing that makes Firefox plugins work in Chrome.

What do you think I use it for?

Ignore Pete, flash is not built in. But it seems to work fine. Yes it can be blocked by millions of addons, possibly including AdThwart. Definitely can by AdBlock.

What the hell is an exif? No idea. Oh ok that stuff. I looked it up. Yes.

So, why is Chrome better? and why should I bother changing?

It is built in.



It's still disableable if you goto chrome://plugins/ but the point is you have it without asking.

You know how FireFox felt really lightweight and fast and flexible and configurable after years of IE being the only viable (shit, but better than the rest) browser for a long time?

That's how Chrome feels in comparison to FF now. It just feels faster. Not just pageloads (which have got to the point where it's so fast I don't give a fuck anyway) but as FF got more bloated its UI started to just feel... unresponsive and stodgy. Chrome just feels quick. And it loads much quicker. It also looks better and works better in a million little tiny ways.

So, nothing specific really, it just feels better.

Use it for a week and if you don't like it I will literally give you your money back, figuratively speaking.

Oh and you belive everything you read, do you?

Have you tried latest Opera yet?

Faster rendering than Chrome it has, in some situations (can't remember details, just a pretty graph showing them with insigificant differences most times, and Opera significantly ahead on a couple. IE and Firefox lagging behind, as expected) (graph created by work colleague with some automation software, against a smallish sample (pages from one website). )

I use a Flashblock thingy called, amazingly, FlashBlock. It works very well.

Not tried Opera for a while. They always seem to want to load an essentially decent browser down with loads of shitty gimmicks rather than just iron out the remaining quirks of their rendering engine.

I always tend to live Opera though. Until I find that one site that I use a lot and which fucks Opera over completely. Then I sigh and ditch it.

But yeah, like I say, for rendering we've really reached the point where all browsers are fast enough so I don't really care. I'm more bothered about the speed to open a new tab and how responsive the UI and stuff is.

Ok just tried it and... what the hell. It looks almost identical to Chrome (the UI, I mean).

Well I've just cleaned out my laptop because most of my responsivity issues are down to overheating. A 90°C CPU and Laptop aren't good for sitting on your lap. Now the fan actually cools the CPU because the brick of dust blocking the air exit has now gone :$

 

If FF still gets unresponsive on me I'll give Chrome a go.
