Are there any suggested mods that should be installed?
I think the only one I have installed is the high resolution sign posts, not that I read them often anyway. There is a better inventory but that didn't work with my unpatched version. Maybe I should update it. Hmm.
I have one which makes horses sprint a lot faster. Then via a console command, you can increase the level of your horse so that it can actually sprint for longer than 17 seconds before becoming knackered. The result is that horses are actually useful and you can realistically play without using fast travel. Also, another mod makes horses cowardly. They'll still engage in battle, but if they take a bit of damage, they'll flee to a safe distance. REALLY useful as it does stop the infuriation of watching your horse charging off into a group of bandits only to get killed.
My horse squares up to dragons and survives, I think you need to talk to your dealer.
I haven't travelled on a horse yet but I'm sure if I do I'll be using at least the cowardly horse mod.
Indeed. There's two versions, one of which makes the horses "essential" so they don't die. Of course, the best mod would be one that just makes the horse stay where you fucking park it instead of sprinting off into battle all the time.
As for running, my beef is that in normal running mode, the horses are barely faster than running on foot, and when you sprint, the horse gets knackered within seconds. Combining it all, vanilla horses are slow, stupid and die all the time. And I tend to prefer playing by avoiding fast travel as it does make you think a bit more about expeditions and the like.
Bugger me! I've just become a werewolf.
Haha, I did that ages ago, one of the first questy things I did. Not sure I see the point, don't really like the wolf form and I no longer get benefits from sleeping in beds. Think I'll go find a cure...
Being a werewolf isn't really any good. Actually turning into a werewolf is pretty pointless as it doesn't make you very hard and you'll still die just as easily. It does have the benefit of making you immune to disease, but that's the only benefit.
Personally, i couldn't wait until i managed to cure it. Assuming you became a werewolf via the Companions questline when the chief dude sends you to bring back the witches head's so you can cure him, make sure you keep one for yourself
I'm waiting to see how big my werewolf knob is before making a final decision.
